Ms. Allen's primary role is the Assistant Nurse Manager of 4A; however, in the last 3 months, she has overcome her fear of covering unit 4A as the Acting Nurse Manager but has done it gracefully and with a positive attitude. Ms. Allen has led the 4A team through support and guidance while engaging them in meeting our VA Missions in caring for our Veterans.

Ms. Allen offers clear instructions to the 4A team and models effective prioritization. She always encourages an open and safe environment for the patients and staff and encourages a culture of positivity. Ms. Allen can manage her team and fosters confidence and growth with all healthcare staff.

Ms. Allen fosters an environment of trust by cultivating a culture in which the team feels comfortable asking questions and speaking up. For example, during morning huddles and team meetings, she encourages everyone to share their opinions and actively listens. Ms. Allen is always open to learning and developing a more positive approach to anything that she comes across.

Ms. Allen also demonstrates compassion and empathy and is always willing to go out and help her team at the bedside. Ms. Allen participates in daily IDT huddle to ensure our Veterans are discharged on time and assists the nurses in performing any tasks or tests that may need to be completed.

Ms. Allen is not only motivated as a leader, but her energetic personality also resonates with her team. Ms. Allen is always motivated to follow the VA mission and encourages her team to do so also. She is proactive in ensuring the team meets the metric goals of the organization and celebrates small wins.

For example, Ms. Allen has been working on getting the 4A staff to reach every 2-hour PRN effectiveness goal of 94%. For the first time, they met the goal consistently for a week, and she made a point to go out to the unit and celebrate the small win! This proves that Ms. Allen wants to make a difference not only for a positive unit culture, but for the organization as well.

Ms. Allen is a supportive, compassionate leader who empowers her team to make positive changes. I want to acknowledge her commitment to fostering a culture that benefits both the staff and patients.

I am truly grateful to be working alongside Ms. Allen and am extremely proud of her for stepping up and leading her team on 4A, even though she hesitated in the beginning. She has done an amazing job and is truly an asset to our 4A TEAM!

Thank you, Glennis, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
