I would like to nominate Gina Higgins for a DAISY Award in recognition of her extraordinary clinical skill, vigilance, and unwavering dedication to a patient. Gina demonstrated exceptional critical thinking and rapid response when she immediately recognized that a patient had gone into VFIB. Without hesitation, she ran to the room, checked for a pulse, called a code, and initiated life-saving measures. Her ability to quickly assess the situation and mobilize the team ensured that resuscitation efforts began without delay. Despite exhaustive efforts, the patient's condition was not improving. They were going to stop the code. Gina remained present and observant. Then she noticed that the patient was attempting to breathe spontaneously. Because of her keen assessment and refusal to disengage, the team was able to continue interventions, ultimately saving this patient's life. Had it not been for Gina's vigilance, advocacy, and commitment to her patient, this individual would not be alive today. Her actions exemplify the very essence of nursing: compassion, clinical excellence, teamwork, and an unwavering dedication to patient care. Gina truly deserves the DAISY Award for her heroic efforts and for embodying what it means to be an exceptional nurse.
