I’d like to nominate Garrett Booth for the DAISY Award after witnessing his heroic and compassionate assistance with a patient who was struggling to have a bowel movement. In a situation that could have been awkward, uncomfortable, or downright disastrous, he stepped in with patience, humor, and unwavering professionalism. He offered gentle encouragement, maintained the patient’s dignity, and turned what could have been an embarrassing experience into one where the patient felt genuinely supported and cared for. Thanks to his calm presence and exceptional bedside manner, the patient found relief — physically and emotionally. It was a perfect reminder that extraordinary nursing doesn’t just happen in big, dramatic moments, but also in the most basic and human ones. For his compassion, kindness, and willingness to go above and beyond (even in the “less glamorous” aspects of patient care), I’m proud to nominate him for this recognition.
