Beyond leading a wonderful team, her personal efforts to care for me made all the difference.
Gabby is the Nurse Manager for TH 14W. Her entire team was incredible in terms of their level of care, empathy, communication, and patience. The nursing team did so much to make me comfortable, both physically and emotionally, during a time of my own medical uncertainty.
This helped me to relax, find an inner calm, and center myself. I am so amazed by the way this team made me feel and so appreciative to all of them. I especially want to thank Gabby. Beyond leading a wonderful team, her personal efforts to care for me made all the difference.
On the final day of my hospital stay, Gabby asked me if I had had the opportunity to ask all my questions. It had been a dizzying three days of tests, some positive surprises in the test results, but also lingering unanswered questions. Gabby knew I needed help processing. She pulled a chair over, sat down, and focused on me. She listened for a long while, reflected on what she was hearing, offered a reassuring perspective, and helped guide me on the next steps.
More than anything, I think it was the way she made herself so available in the middle of everything else and made me feel so cared about and cared for. I hope everyone can feel cared for in that way. It's the best medicine there is.
