After my surgery, I was in a lot of pain. Gabrielle was with me all night making sure I got my medications, which meant she had to check doctors' orders frequently to make sure as soon as the order came in, she could give me my medications. Not only did she proactively stay on top of this, but she also made sure she communicated what was happening during each step. She told me when I would be getting each medication, how long it would last, etc. This understanding helped me feel in control and understand what was happening to me.

She did all this with so much compassion, she never made me feel like I was being demanding. On the contrary, she validated my feelings and helped me relax and get through a very difficult night. Gabrielle came in frequently to check on me, but a the same time tried to respect my need to sleep, which was vital for my pain management. She is the kind of nurse who quietly and humbly meets the needs of the patients, as well as anticipates them. She listened to me, and I was able to work through my feelings. It was very helpful for me. All in all, I think Gabrielle is the whole package: professional, competent, caring, kind, and genuinely compassionate.
