Gabi continuously goes above and beyond for her patients to ensure they are safe and happy while under her care. She was caring for a patient on the unit who had progressed to Dementia and was very difficult to keep safe. While helping this patient back to her bed and recognizing she would not remain in bed, Gabi got creative and started singing to the patient. The patient loved it so much she started cheering her on, which then turned into Gabi putting on a performance in front of her bed with cheer moves she had used in the past. The patient was awing over her and having the best time cheering on her favorite nurse. This put our patient in a mood that made managing her care easier and safer. Gabi truly cares for her patients holistically and is not afraid to think outside of the box and be a true companion for her patients when they are here alone.

After my husband's spinal surgery, he was brought to the 5th floor, where he received compassionate, appropriate care from Gabi. She was patient, kind, funny, and professional. She was very responsive to my husband's pain, and she always asked if either of us had needs before tending to the next person. In addition to caring for her patients, Gabi was also training 2 students, and watching her interact with them was a true pleasure. She was patient and informative with them, reassuring them through troubleshooting problems they would encounter on the job and mentoring them through bedside communications. We were only able to interact with her on this one shift, but she made quite an impression!
