Her care extended beyond just our daughter; she consistently checked on my well-being as a parent, listening to our concerns, reassuring us, and ensuring our voices were heard.
Our daughter was born prematurely at 28 weeks, and this was an incredibly scary and unplanned time for our family. The NICU experience can be a roller coaster of emotions, and we faced challenges we never expected- who would have thought feeding a baby could take several weeks to learn. However, amidst this journey, we were fortunate to meet some extraordinary people who made a lasting impact on our lives. Most notable among them was our daughter's nurse, Frania Ronquillo. From the very beginning, she stood out with her unwavering dedication and compassion. Even after she was no longer our daughter's primary nurse, she continued to check in on her progress, celebrate her milestones, and offer invaluable support. She made sure to mark important occasions, such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, and, most memorably, our daughter's graduation from the NICU. Her care extended beyond just our daughter; she consistently checked on my well-being as a parent, listening to our concerns, reassuring us, and ensuring our voices were heard. Her calming presence and encouraging advice helped us navigate those 95 challenging days in the NICU with much more hope and confidence. Her actions went far above and beyond what we could have ever expected. She made us feel supported during one of the most vulnerable times of our lives, and her genuine care turned a frightening experience into one filled with moments of hope and comfort. We believe she exemplifies everything that the DAISY Award stands for and would love to see her honored for the remarkable difference she has made in our lives.
