Francesca is honored with the DAISY Award today after being nominated by a patient she cared for in the Emergency Department. The patient came to the ED tearful and in intense pain after suffering injuries in a house fire. From the very first moment, Francesca’s kindness and warmth provided a calming presence that helped ease both the physical discomfort and emotional distress.

She consistently prioritized the patient’s well-being by ensuring physical comfort, offering a warm blanket when cold, assisting with bathroom needs, and thoughtfully providing a popsicle that reduced severe throat pain from a 9 to a 4 on the pain scale.

Her communication was clear and compassionate, explaining every procedure and step in detail, which helped ease the patient’s anxiety. Beyond clinical care, Francesca’s attentiveness extended to meaningful gestures, such as securing a TV remote so the patient could watch favorite shows and finding a wheelchair upon discharge to ensure a safe transition home.

As a caregiver herself for over 10 years, the patient recognized Francesca’s genuine love for nursing and heartfelt commitment. Francesca’s empathy shone when she offered a towel to comfort the patient’s tears—a deeply touching and reassuring moment.
