What makes her truly exceptional is that she never hesitates to step into tasks that may be beyond her managerial role—because for her, patient safety and staff support always come first.
I remember a time when I had a patient who suddenly became hemodynamically unstable—if I recall correctly, it was due to sepsis. The doctors immediately ordered a stat internal jugular (IJ) line insertion, multiple antibiotics, and pressors all at once. It was one of those critical, high-pressure moments where everything needed to be done quickly and precisely.
In the midst of that chaos, she was right there—calm, composed, and completely in control.
She immediately assisted in every possible way—preparing the materials for the IJ procedure, organizing the medications, and even helping administer some of them herself. Because of her quick thinking, hands-on leadership, and genuine concern for both the patient and the team, we were able to stabilize the patient and transfer them safely to the ICU for close monitoring.
That day, she earned not just my gratitude—but my utmost respect.
Another story, shared by a colleague, further reflects the kind of nurse and leader she is.
A patient who had just been transferred from the Telemetry Unit due to Acute Coronary Syndrome began complaining of chest heaviness. After several minutes had passed and the assigned nurse had not yet come out of the room, concern prompted a quick check, and it turned out that the patient was already in atrial fibrillation.
Once again, she immediately stepped in.
She advised connecting the patient to the cardiac monitor, assisted with the necessary interventions, and helped prepare and administer Amiodarone for synchronized cardioversion. Her actions, guidance, and steady presence helped the team stabilize the patient without further complications.
What makes her truly exceptional is that she never hesitates to step into tasks that may be beyond her managerial role—because for her, patient safety and staff support always come first.
These are just two of the many stories that demonstrate how she positively impacts both her patients and her team. She empowers us to become better, more confident, and safer nurses.
Beyond her clinical expertise, she treats everyone with fairness and respect while maintaining a warm, approachable, and encouraging environment in the unit. Her presence fosters teamwork and unity—and I sincerely believe she is one of the main reasons for the cohesiveness of our team.
There are many more stories I could share, but for now, I simply want to say:
Maraming salamat, Ma’am, for your compassion, leadership, and unwavering dedication to both your patients and your team.
