I went to A&E with very low 02 sats. I was struggling to breathe, and my asthma was not stabilised. I was referred to the asthma clinical and that’s where I met Frances. Frances reviewed me thoroughly and discussed the history of my asthma, she spent time and energy ensuring I had the right medication, a pulse oximeter and the reassurance I would be ok. Frances contacted me daily for 2 weeks to check that I was following the care plan she made for me. She spoke to not only me but my husband and daughter to ensure everyone was aware of risks and what to look out for to aid a healthy recovery.

Since the later half of 2022, I have had 13 A&E admissions due to my asthma, and Frances has followed up the next day after each one, diligently checking in and making a plan for my care. Frances has given me confidence and reassurance as my steroids, prescribed to help with my asthma, were impacting me physically and emotionally. Her reassurances, kindness, and care helped me understand it was the side effects of the steroids and that everything was going to be ok, reminded me I am still me.

Even when I don’t have an appointment, or I have a query, I am able to call Frances, and she will clarify queries or concerns. Frances works with a range of professionals and is coordinating my care with the multidisciplinary team; she makes sure all communication is effective, and I am always kept in the loop regarding my care. Frances is truly person-centred and goes above and beyond. Frances helps me on this journey of recovery with my asthma and has helped me develop a new way of living with this condition.
