May 2026 Honoree
Faten Aljahmi
In our peds clinical term 4, you could tell that Faten had a niche for pediatrics. There was a patient that we had with autism, whose parents were not at the bedside for the majority of the day, and Faten took the time out of our busy clinical to go to the rec room and find stickers and coloring books to give this girl. We spent about an hour in this girl's room, laughing, coloring, and placing stickers in the sticker book. The way that Faten cared for her and spent time with her during the day while her parents were away made me realize how much pediatrics needed her as a nurse.
In our lectures with Henson, I sat next to Faten every time. I would look over when we were talking about subjects like abuse or open-heart surgery, and I could see tears in her eyes. I could tell she wanted to do this and that she was the best person for it. Now she has a job at a Level I Children’s Hospital on a burn unit. I could not be more proud of her, and seeing how much she cares about her patients is truly inspiring.
I would like to nominate Faten for the DAISY Award in recognition of her outstanding compassion, dedication, and commitment to excellence in nursing. As a current student at Madonna, I look up to Faten in so many ways. She truly represents what a nurse should be. Faten consistently shows genuine care for everyone around her and is always willing to step in and help wherever she is needed. Her kindness and selflessness make a lasting impression on both her patients and her peers.
What stands out most about Faten is her passion for learning and her dedication to providing the best possible care. The way she speaks about her clinical experiences at Children’s reflects her deep commitment to her patients and her profession. She is always eager to grow, improve, and expand her knowledge so she can better serve those in her care.
Faten is not only an incredible caregiver but also an inspiring role model. She creates a positive environment for those around her and is someone others naturally turn to for guidance and support. She is the kind of person who helps others grow, both personally and professionally. I have no doubt that Faten gives 110% to her patients every single day. Her compassion, work ethic, and dedication embody the true spirit of nursing, making her an exceptional and deserving candidate for this award.
