My fiancé started bleeding and then experienced a hemorrhage. I called Heather in, and she immediately had two nurses supporting her and one doctor in the room with the senior doctor on the way. She was very good at keeping my fiancé talking during the hemorrhage, asking, "Are you doing alright?" She kept us both calm while also taking complete control of the situation until the doctors arrived.

I could see that my fiancé lost a lot of blood and that the doctors were worried about time when it came to removing the clot. Doctor Park and Heather were in complete control, and I could tell that Heather believed in my fiancé.

Nursing seems to be very personal. Many nurses came in and expressed that they really cared about my fiancé having the birth experience she wanted, but I don't think that when things look that dark, every nurse would be able to keep their composure and really convey confidence that everything will be okay. Heather did, though. She believed in my fiancé and would not allow her to feel like things weren't going to be okay.

I told Heather that we will never forget her. Her great attitude and infectious smile are only a small part of what makes her amazing. She cared. She really, in her soul, cared about my fiancé and me.

I know Heather deserves every nursing award that exists because she represents a nurse that absolutely cares. We call Heather and Doctor Park our Guardian Angels that night. Doctor Park because she was able to remove the clot, and Heather because she supported the doctors, built a team with the other nurses, and most of all cared about my fiancé and me leaving the hospital healthy so we could raise our two baby boys together!

Thank you for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
