Faith had become family.
It was at UCSF that I had the privilege of meeting Ms. Faith Geolingo. I was admitted as a patient there for a week after a challenging month that began with a motorcycle accident in Georgia, leaving me with a tibia/fibula fracture. Two weeks after the accident, I was granted time off from work and decided to fly back home to California, hoping for some rest and recovery.
Unfortunately, my plans were interrupted by excruciating pain that sent me to the ER multiple times. It was eventually discovered that I had a pseudoaneurysm in my calf, requiring urgent surgery at UCSF to have it drained. During my recovery at UCSF, Faith became a cornerstone of my healing journey. She went above and beyond to ensure I was not only cared for but truly comfortable.
When administering pain medication, she stayed by my side to make sure it was effective and that I felt relief. If she needed to give me a shot, she did so with remarkable care, minimizing discomfort as much as possible. Faith’s compassion extended beyond the clinical. She took the time to connect with me on a personal level, and her warmth made a world of difference. We often laughed and joked during her visits, which lifted my spirits and eased the weight of the situation. We shared stories about our lives—where we were from, what I did for work, and more—and her thoughtful, attentive nature made every conversation feel meaningful.
Her kindness wasn’t limited to me alone; she showed the same respect and consideration to my family. Faith patiently answered their questions and always ensured they felt informed and reassured. During my physical therapy sessions, she cheered me on, offering encouragement that motivated me. When the time came for my discharge, it felt like I was saying goodbye to a dear friend—someone who had become more than a caregiver. Faith had become family. Ms. Faith Geolingo is, and will always be, a phenomenal nurse. Her dedication, empathy, and unwavering commitment to her patients set her apart as someone who truly strives to make a difference in the lives she touches.
