Thank you, Evelina, for rescuing me mentally and emotionally, and for helping me feel more comfortable during my hospital stay.
Evelina is such a blessing in my life. I have COPD, emphysema, bronchitis, and bronchiolitis, and I am currently hospitalized with pneumonia. Before coming to this unit, I was in the CDU holding area and feeling very depressed because of my lung condition.
Evelina is my nurse for today. When I woke up, they were so full of energy and positivity as they introduced themself and gave me my medications. This nurse was like a breath of fresh air, a light at the end of the tunnel.
When Evelina noticed that I was feeling depressed and frustrated, they gave me my medications and told me they would be back. Shortly afterward, I received the most pleasant surprise. This nurse actually took their break time and part of their lunch time to sit down and talk with me. Their concern, attentiveness, positivity, and ability to understand my situation were truly remarkable. I am 78 years old, and Evelina is 33. For someone so young to be thoughtful enough to use their own time to sit with me and help me work through my depression was absolutely wonderful.
I have been coming to Grady Memorial Hospital for 53 years, and I have never had a nurse, doctor, or chaplain sit and walk me through a situation the way Evelina did. Their compassion, understanding, and positivity should be recognized as a special thanks and a true show of gratitude for a nurse of this stature.
Thank you, Evelina, for rescuing me mentally and emotionally, and for helping me feel more comfortable during my hospital stay. If there were more nurses like this, there would be far fewer disgruntled patients. Thank you again for your time and for giving so much of yourself.
