May 2019 Honoree
erin wayne, RN
I brought my 18-month-old son in after several days of him being really sick. He was so tired that he just laid on my lap while Erin started an IV it was heartbreaking to see him like that. Erin did a great job of keeping both myself and my son calm during this time by showing confidence in her skills and concern for us at the same time. After she had us settled with the fluids running, she checked on us at least every 15 minutes to see how we were doing and if we needed anything. During our visit, Erin got him a stuffed Mickey Mouse, which he loves. Not only did she give him a new stuffed buddy to help him through the rough time, but she even did a Mickey Mouse voice when she gave it to him! This was the first time that he had smiled or showed interest in anything for awhile. As a mom, I was so happy to see this. It takes a special person to not only possess the skills it takes to be an emergency room nurse, but also have the ability to make connections with patients the way Erin does. I appreciate everything that Erin does to provide amazing care to each patient that she has, including my family.
Thank you, Erin, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
