I wanted to recognize the outstanding care my son received during a brief, but stressful, PICU stay. He had a severe asthma exacerbation during a viral illness, having never received a formal asthma diagnosis. Erin was a calming presence during a stressful transfer to the PICU. She explained what to expect and put my son's comfort first, making the experience less stressful for him. She helped advocate for his needs and communicated with the entire team quickly. O and her orientee were awesome as well when he started to improve. They helped make the experience easier for him by anticipating his needs, doing an expert assessment, and letting him rest when possible. They went out of their way to make sure all of our questions were answered and that we knew what to expect. As a nurse myself, this was my first experience on the "other side of the bed" with my son. I appreciate how much the staff helped me feel less powerless and overwhelmed with the unexpected sequence of events. We appreciate how well the entire team worked together to provide excellent care and help us feel confident moving forward.
