On a very difficult day, when we found out that my mom is facing cancer, we met Erin. She was assigned to my mom on a day we needed her the most. She had shared some things with my mom after my mom shared some personal things about herself. Then Erin came in after the doctors and mom told her the news we had received, and Erin paused for a deep breath and began to share with us how much she had overcome on her own battle, fighting not only once but twice. She gave us such encouraging words of hope and helped my mom see that there is hope and that it is going to be okay. Erin went above and beyond and has touched our hearts in such a special way. We have shared lots of tears with her, and even now, she is not assigned to my mom due to short staff on the other end. She took the time to stop in and check on mom and us, and make sure we know that she is thinking of us all. It is not often now that you find amazing nurses who actually care about their patients and who touch you as Erin has. She deserves to know how amazing she is.
