Erica certainly fulfilled her calling. She was efficient, observant, and caring for the patient and the family. She addressed all the medical needs, comfort measures, as well as the very emotional needs with the new addition of an end-stage cancer rollercoaster diagnosis. Though a bustling ward, she always made us feel as if she had all the time in the world and cared for many needs without making us feel rushed. So stealth so as not to wake the patient if she could quietly and gently complete whatever task was at hand. She could make things we had been asking for or hoping for happen. Whether it involved contacting the doctor, asking others to assist, or delegating when necessary. But above all, her nursing talent and skills were her wonderful personality and caring heart. She was always pleasant with a beautiful smile. She carried things out with such kindness and sincere words of encouragement. Erica portrays what I call a real nurse.
