He's a role model not just in his clinical skills but also in his empathy, patience, and ability to make a real connection with patients in a short time.
I am writing to nominate Captain Emmanuel M Jenzer for the DAISY Award, an honor well-deserved for a nurse who has become an integral part of our Emergency Room (ER) team. Over the past months, Capt Jenzer has consistently shown incredible dedication and skill, qualities that make him stand out in our challenging ER environment.
Adapting to the ER: What sets Capt Jenzer apart is his remarkable ability to adapt. He stepped into the fast-paced ER from a different duty section and immediately became a key player. His hard work, meticulous nature, and ease with which he has adapted to the ER's culture and pace have not gone unnoticed.
Excellence in Patient Care: In the urgent care section, where patient turnover is quick, Capt Jenzer has shown that high-quality care isn't about how much time you spend, but how you use that time. Each patient he sees, no matter how brief the encounter, receives his full attention and care. He has a way of making every interaction feel personalized and never rushed.
A Memorable Interaction: A recent instance really highlighted Capt Jenzer's exceptional care. An elderly lady with a sprained ankle was worried about her new prescriptions interfering with her current meds. Capt Jenzer didn't just reassure her; he took the time to sit with her and her husband, going over each medication in detail. When it came to teaching her how to use crutches, he was patient and supportive, giving her the confidence she needed to manage on her own at home. It's this kind of empathetic care that makes a real difference.
Impact on Patients and Colleagues: Capt Jenzer's impact goes beyond the patients he treats. His approach to patient care sets a standard in our ER, inspiring his colleagues to strive for the same level of excellence. He's a role model not just in his clinical skills but also in his empathy, patience, and ability to make a real connection with patients in a short time.
Capt Jenzer is the kind of nurse who embodies what the DAISY Award is all about. His dedication, skill, and compassionate care make him more than deserving of this recognition. He's not just doing his job; he's making a difference in the lives of those he cares for, every single day.
I can think of no one more fitting for the DAISY Award.
