On behalf of our father, who has been hospitalized for about two weeks, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Emmalyn Amigable for the extraordinary comfort and care she provided to our father during his recovery from a stroke. Our father had lost his speech and right-side mobility. Out of the dozen different nurses assigned to him during his stay, she went above and beyond in every aspect, ensuring his comfort and safety by providing a geriatric chair, advocating for his needs, maintaining his hygiene, and treating him with the utmost dignity. She was the only one who suctioned a large amount of phlegm stuck in his throat, which we were not aware he had accumulated over the week, and cleaned his mouth. We saw my father’s relief and thankfulness in his face after she did this. She was also empathetic to our emotional feelings during this difficult time, explaining the treatment she was providing him and answering any questions we had. She would say goodbye at the end of her shift and inform us that a new nurse would be assigned. While every nurse played a role in my father’s care and our being by his bedside, we could see that she treated my father as someone truly valued with her professionalism, dedication, and unwavering compassion. She was truly extraordinary!
