Emma is an exceptional nurse whose compassion, advocacy, and dedication truly embody the spirit of the DAISY Award.

There was a patient who was awaiting transplant. Due to high-flow oxygen requirements with an Airvo device, the patient had been unable to take a shower since admission, and the Airvo system cannot be exposed to water. As a result, the idea of a shower initially felt impossible and had been discussed many times without a clear solution.

Emma refused to let this remain an unmet need. Understanding how important dignity, comfort, and normalcy are for patients—especially those facing long and emotionally challenging hospitalizations, Emma took it upon herself to make this happen.

She coordinated extensively with patient transport, collaborated closely with respiratory therapy, and proactively discussed the situation with the respiratory supervisor to identify a safe and workable plan. After several thoughtful discussions and creative problem-solving, she successfully coordinated the logistics to safely transport the patient to another unit where a shower could be completed.

Thanks to persistence, teamwork, and patient-centered advocacy, the patient was finally able to shower—an experience that brought visible relief, comfort, and emotional uplift.

Emma went far beyond routine nursing duties. saw a problem, advocated relentlessly, and turned compassion into action. Her dedication made a profound difference in this patient’s hospital experience, and is truly deserving of DAISY Award recognition.

Thanks for all your hard work and dedication! We really appreciate you!
