Emily is our Nursing Queen! She worked with my husband for 3 consecutive days and 1 night. She was very sweet, kind and caring. My husband was in agonizing pain and struggling to urinate because of blood clots in his bladder. Emily took the time to stay with him while he struggled in pain. She took the initiative to contact his doctor to work out a medication plan to control his pain. She used her knowledge of body mechanics to problem-solve the removal of some towels that were used for elevation, and she repositioned the foot of his bed to allow gravity to work in his favor which made it easier for him to urinate. She took time to gently clean him with care, to change his bed, to answer his questions along with mine, and to allay his fears and mine. She encouraged him to drink more fluids and helped him discover that doing so made things much easier. She built trust in my husband who is not very trusting at all. She took valuable time to talk with him and listen and really hear him, understanding fears that were not said out loud. Emily took time to answer my questions, and she welcomed my help suggestions, and ideas. She voiced to my husband the ways he was showing improvement. He trusts her so much that when she asks him to allow her to do something he will agree with her. I trust her knowledge and ability to assess his situation and his needs. Without her care, my husband would not be confident that he was ready to go home. Emily Winters deserves to be recognized for her warm caring heart, her thoughtful care, her problem-solving skills, her ability to listen and to hear between the lines, and her willingness to include the suggestions of family. Emily is an exceptional nurse and person who takes her responsibilities seriously. Emily is our Nursing Queen!
