During my unexpected hospital stay, I met many amazing nurses and technicians, but several left a lasting impression on me. I had received many surveys, which I filled out on paper, naming several that stood out. But one in particular was Emily McMillan.
When I first met Emily, I could tell that she was very experienced in her nursing skills. She was confident, kind and caring. She put me at ease and listened and prayed with me when I received a very unexpected and alarming diagnosis of cancer I was devasted and she was aware of that.
She would stop by my room after her long shift was over to sit and chat. She was a Godsend to me. What I also admired about Emily is that she was willing to teach nursing students procedures that they may not have encountered before. She had the experience behind her and wanted to share her knowledge if they were willing and able to learn from it. They always wanted to learn from her. This is what I call dedication to her position at the hospital.
Emily also took the time out of her busy schedule to occasionally check in on me to see how I was doing. To sum this up, as I stated earlier, I met many amazing people at this hospital, but Emily was outstanding. My stay at Advent Health Palm Coast Parkway was an enjoyable one that I will and have shared with my friends and family. With nurses like Emily, who made my journey a very good one. I recommend her for the DAISY Award. She is an asset to this hospital. Thank you for such a pleasant experience.
