Emily advocates for our patients and prioritizes their care and comfort.
Since starting at Dupont, I have always felt supported by Emily in my role as a staff RN. When I transitioned to a leadership role, Emily demonstrated by example what it means to truly change a culture in a workplace. I have never in my 9 years of nursing witnessed a Director who is more trusted by staff than Emily. The ED staff often expresses to me that they feel confident that Emily supports them. Since I have been working under Emily, she has demonstrated through great communication that our Dupont ED is capable of great things, especially through recognition of improving our stroke times in our department. Emily demonstrates mutual respect for all Dupont employees, which is evident in the efforts she has made to build a bridge with inpatient leadership in order to increase and improve outcomes for our patients.

Emily has shown me that I can truly make a change in the nursing world if I lead with compassion and understanding. Emily’s mentorship has contributed to my own success as a new leader. Under Emily’s mentorship, I have gained confidence as a voice in nursing, I have felt empowered to grow through professional development, and I have felt adequately prepared to perform in my role. Emily inspires our department to have pride in our work and to build compassionate relationships with our patients. Emily has also put great effort into building relationships with our community first responders, which again demonstrates great leadership in building bridges with coworkers and peers. Under Emily’s leadership, the Dupont ED has developed a new throughput process, which has decreased LOS times; improved door-to-TNK time metrics (for the first time in 2 years); seen a near a 10% increase in EMS volumes; overseen multiple and successful completions of CAP projects, and encouraged the certification of NCSS and EWPC nurses.

Emily cares about making our team the best it can be. She always steps up to fill holes in the schedule, finds answers to any questions we may have, and advocates for us with other departments. Emily has an approachable personality which is very reassuring especially for our newer nurses.

Emily always comes in when we are short-staffed, no matter the shift. She is always available for questions and never complains when things get busy or difficult. When she works in the department, she is helpful and will actually take care of patients efficiently. She is a good resource for knowledge on taking care of very sick patients and psych patients. She is an advocate and a voice for the department. She constantly works to make sure her staff is taken care of and not overworked or overwhelmed. There have been many changes implemented by her that make the department better.

She goes above and beyond in her role as ER Manager. She has come in and worked when she did not need to, and she has shown the team how much she cares with her actions.

Emily is always there for our unit and willing to come in and help pick up extra hours. I know that I can come to Emily with any concerns or questions and feel supported. Emily advocates for our patients and prioritizes their care and comfort.
