She is very composed and professional while simultaneously being a light and joy that follows her everywhere.
As a nursing student, Emily has been by far the best nurse I have ever come across. Not only is she genuinely so kind to students, but she goes so far above and beyond for patients. She truly has a heart for each patient and deeply cares for them, and you can tell. She is very gentle to them, compassionate, sympathetic, empathetic, and always explains what is happening, whether they are sedated or not. She keeps the family in the loop and is on top of everything to the minute.
On the nursing side of things, she is as thorough as they come. Does not miss a beat, uses absolutely perfect technique and knows her patients like the back of her hand even if she has only been with them for one day. She is very composed and professional while simultaneously being a light and joy that follows her everywhere. She also spends time teaching others/ students around her, no matter how busy she is. In situations of emergency, she is cool, calm, and collected, and she thinks critically while advocating for her patients and collaborating with everyone for the best interest of the patient. She is one of the smartest nurses I have ever come across and knows disease process, protocols, medications and so much more off the top of her head and has only been an RN for a short time.
She has sincerely impacted me as a student and has shown me the positive side of nursing/ICU nursing despite the challenges that it brings. She helps me as a student feel comfortable performing interventions and procedures, and also lets me feel like I can ask questions, and she just wants us to learn to become great nurses just like her. I have only shadowed her 3-4 times, but from the first hour, she has shown that she knows exactly what she is talking about, knows her patients, is extremely knowledgeable about her specialty, and is extremely humble about it too! I cannot recommend her more.
