Emily, without me asking, took it upon herself to research other options. She found a treatment that would work for my case and also my desire to keep nursing.
Emily was my nurse in the IMCU after I had my stroke. I was 28 and had a baby 6 weeks prior, who had spent one week in the NICU. Emily was constantly going above and beyond to support me both physically and mentally. She knew how important breastfeeding was to me and is the SOLE reason I was able to continue. The neurologist told us that there was no available treatment compatible with nursing. Emily, without me asking, took it upon herself to research other options. She found a treatment that would work for my case and also my desire to keep nursing. She was able to talk with the physician, and they agreed. Emily also helped facilitate a way for me to see my baby. I work in FBC (just returned after a long break) and am around AMAZING nurses every day, but have never personally experienced the level of care and support that Emily provided. My baby is now 1.5 and we are still nursing, which I give full credit to Emily. I will forever remember her care and compassion. She was able to keep me connected to my baby during one of the hardest moments of my life.
