Emily took exceptional care of my mother while she was on life support. She was attentive, kind, informative, personable, professional, and energetic. With a lot of importance, she made a point to take care of me. I have been in nursing for decades and currently practice as an RN in Oregon.
I have taken care of my mother's fragile type 1 diabetes for as long as I can remember. I had her in a facility that could watch her 24/7 near her sisters in Tri-Cities. My guilt was immense that I was not there during my mom's most vulnerable moments before she was put on life support. I have always been the nurse, not just family. Emily took time to get to know me, share experiences, listen to my heartbreak, and hold me as I sobbed, knowing my mother had no meaningful or purposeful recovery to be had.
It was the hardest decision I had to make, ever, to withdraw care for my mom. With Emily's knowledge sharing and thoroughly involving me in her care, I knew I had all the pieces I needed to make informed decisions.
