I was very afraid going into my induction as a first-time mom, considering that my mother lives out of state and was not going to have that support person there for me. However, being under Emily's care made me feel safe and heard. My induction had complications right in the middle of shift change, and I was afraid knowing that Emily would be leaving. I was very surprised and beyond grateful when Emily stayed for the whole delivery and for my recovery. I was transition out of labor & delivery around 1030 pm, but I know that was still not the end of her shift, considering all the charting. I never mentioned to her that I was an ICU nurse and knew what good quality of care signified. Nevertheless, the quality of care and support she provided me was more than I had expected and made my experience as a first-time mom memorable despite the complications. I am beyond grateful that she saw me through the end, which is why I nominate her for the Extraordinary Nurse she is.
