She held my hands, showed my husband the proper techniques to relieve pressure, pulled out all kinds of equipment to help me with exercises to encourage the labor process, she checked on us constantly, and was there every second I needed her.
In one of the scariest moments of my life, Emiline was there in a way a nurse had never been there for me before. During my induced labor, I was progressing very slowly and had been working all day long to make progress. When Emiline started her shift, she came in and went above and beyond with her patient education by demonstrating ways for me to make things move along more quickly. Not only did she excel in her ability to explain every single term in regard to the progress we were making, according to the doctor, but she was able to coach me through one of the hardest moments of my life.
I was anticipating getting an epidural around the time I was 6 cm dilated or so. Around this time, my water broke, and I dilated very quickly, causing extreme pain and extremely intense contractions. It was easily the most intense pain I have ever felt. In the meantime of waiting to get an epidural (granted this came pretty quickly as well, but things were just moving so fast for my labor at this point), Emiline (along with my husband) is who got me through to see the light at the end of the tunnel and who encouraged me to gain confidence in myself and my abilities to birth our son.
In the most challenging moments of my life, she was the most personable nurse I have ever had and made the most painful experience of my life, one of the most memorable in a good way; not only because we were welcoming our second child into the world, but because of the amazing nurse that I had to coach me through the labor process. She held my hands, showed my husband the proper techniques to relieve pressure, pulled out all kinds of equipment to help me with exercises to encourage the labor process, she checked on us constantly, and was there every second I needed her. I will NEVER be able to thank her enough or describe the gratitude I feel toward her and her kindness in one of my weakest moments. Tanner Medical Center has a true gem in its labor and delivery department, and I can only hope that if we ever have another child, she would be my nurse/birthing coach once again!
