Thank you for the perfect care.
There was a patient and a spouse who came in for treatment from a house fire. They lost everything. They had no family locally; no keys, money, or anything. The whole house was consumed. The patient was transferred to the burn center, and the charge talked with MCA to allow the husband to fly via rotor with them, as the husband had no keys (consumed in the fire) or transportation to Wake.
Summer went and got cash out of the ATM (several hundred dollars) from her own account. The ED staff decided to send Summer money and to contribute, and all gave Summer money. Dr. Mollo gave the man the clothes he wore to work that day, the literal shirt off his back. Along with money from the staff, the team provided the husband with food, drinks, and snacks to be able to eat when at Wake.
The team went above and beyond to assist the patient and ensure his basic needs were met while he was at the hospital with his wife for her further treatment.

I drove my grandson and daughter to your facility four days following Hurricane Helene, which, as you know, devastated Western North Carolina. We had only been able to leave our home the day before because of the destruction, and on Monday evening, my daughter and son-in-law took my grandson to our local hospital.
It was a 15-hour wait, so they came home to decide what to do. The next morning, we realized that he needed immediate help since his facial issue would not stop bleeding, and he was in a tremendous amount of pain. We collectively decided to visit your facility first, then travel on to Charlotte if he was unable to receive the care he needed.
My daughter had a sigh of relief as she read "trauma center" as we entered the front door. From start to finish, we knew he was going to have the best care available. Every single person who interacted with us was absolutely wonderful, acting as if we were old friends trying to catch up on the last few years.
Thank you for the perfect care. His little face has healed beautifully, and the pain has subsided immediately. Thank you for the bag of food, water, sandwiches (which we ate in the parking lot before heading home), the delicious homemade baked spaghetti that we enjoyed while waiting, the toys you gave my grandson, and the showers we were able to take while there. And last, but certainly not least, thank you for the hugs of assurance and compassion you poured into us!
I have told so many that I wish your staff could go to other facilities and train! Please know that your team has been prayed for, and I thank God we crossed paths with such an outstanding team.

One of their own teammates experienced a house fire, and the teammates went above and beyond to take care of her needs.
