She would make rounds with me as often as she could during her shift, just to make sure I was comfortable.
Elizabeth was my lactation consultant after I had my daughter last year. I was struggling to get her latched on due to a tongue tie, which was discovered and treated months later. During the time I was in the hospital, Elizabeth spent hours at my bedside providing education and hands-on help every time my daughter was due to eat. She would make rounds with me as often as she could during her shift, just to make sure I was comfortable. To a brand new mom, this meant everything. The hormones were taking over, and I was feeling defeated, but Liz was always so positive and reassuring. On her last shift for the week, I remember just breaking down and crying because I wouldn’t have her help anymore. Before leaving, she gave me her phone number to text her anytime I had questions about breastfeeding/newborns. I truly don’t think I’d still be breastfeeding today one year later if it weren’t for Liz’s guidance and teaching. It’s so obvious she loves what she does. Being a nurse myself, I understand what it means to be nominated for DAISY. Liz deserves this and more! Thank you, Liz.
