She coached my grandmother, stood with her, cried with her, and loved her in all the ways we couldn’t until we got there.
You might be surprised that after losing our grandfather, we would have any positivity left to share. This team of healthcare providers made a lasting impact on his life and our memory, and we want them to know how appreciative we are of the exceptional care they provided.
God assigned Elizabeth “Liz” to us on our grandpa's final day on this earth. He knew exactly the kind of nurse we would need during this difficult time to help us feel confident in the decisions we had to make. He sent Liz to us, and we couldn’t be more thankful for her!
None of us knew it was going to take a turn for the worse, but when Liz got the report, the energy shifted in the room. She was smart, she was on it. She did not hesitate to take time and make sure we all knew what was going on. She met each of us with exactly what we needed. She is the type of nurse who can tailor her care to whatever is needed on an individual level, and she can do that for everyone in the room.
It truly is inspiring to watch. Liz knew I needed facts; she gave them to me straight. She knew my grandmother needed love and support, and she was the warmest hug and comfort for her. When decisions had to be made, she was the exact nurse my grandmother needed to help her let him go in the most dignified and loving way possible.
She coached my grandmother, stood with her, cried with her, and loved her in all the ways we couldn’t until we got there. Her presence that night is something none of us could ever pay her back for, but she is an angel, and we love her.
