Liz was very wise, kind, and adherent to my needs, but totally ethical in her work.
Unfortunately, I am leaving Eskenazi this time very sad, really scared and totally frightened about the future. After leaving the ICU, I was placed with a new care team. Pulmonary gave me some pretty bad news, I’m leaving on oxygen, and my CT has shown signs of (Lung nodules), meaning possible cancer. Directly after this news, I sank into a very sad place. Could not sleep, didn’t care about hygiene or how I looked. Did not care about my medicine or anything. However, I did have a piece of sunshine on a constant shine - my daytime nurse, Elizabeth (Liz). My entire world sank, and Liz was so helpful, resistant to my moodiness, and battled me right into caring. Liz, although, appears like a sweet little candy, appears quiet and shy, but she “IS NOT”! She takes care of each patient equally and thoroughly. Her experience in watching my decline was real. Liz was very wise, kind, and adherent to my needs, but totally ethical in her work. Liz told me about being defiant, that it would not get me better. She saw the love and desire for my little grandkids and reminded me I have to get my mind right to be right. She helped me to be involved with Pet Therapy, which was a beautiful thing. I LOVE animals! Liz also reminded me about Music Therapy, which was also recommended by my doctors. It was so serene and peaceful. Liz suggested Art Therapy. Oh my goodness - it was fantastic! All I know is that anyone can keep to a job description. But it takes certain types of individuals who manage their job while also going beyond that description and layout. I believe it’s important these young women are affirmed in their worth, as so many are ignored and missed. Thank you, Eskenazi, for your good RNs and other staff, too! Thank you, Elizabeth, for making sure you tried bringing me out of my deep sadness.
