I would like to recognize Liz, a Critical Care nurse, for the extraordinary compassion and patient-centered care she provided to one of our patients. This patient, who had recently delivered her baby, was also facing significant psychological challenges. Elizabeth recognized the emotional complexity of the situation and consistently went above and beyond to support her.

Throughout the patient’s stay, Elizabeth demonstrated remarkable patience, empathy, and professionalism. One moment that truly stood out was when she supported the patient in visiting her newborn in the NICU. The patient felt conflicted and unsure about whether she wanted to go, but Elizabeth never rushed her. Instead, she created a calm, supportive environment, giving the patient time to process her feelings, encouraging her autonomy, and ensuring that every step was her choice. When the patient ultimately decided to visit her baby, Elizabeth personally accompanied her to the NICU and stayed by her side throughout the visit, offering reassurance and emotional support the entire time.

Elizabeth’s approach embodies the true value of nursing. Her ability to create a safe, compassionate space greatly enhanced the patient’s overall experience and helped her navigate an incredibly vulnerable moment with dignity and confidence. Her dedication and compassion made a meaningful difference.
