I would like to nominate Eliza for the DAISY Award. I am an oncology patient with stage 4 appendiceal cancer. I was admitted to 6W for chemotoxicity and abdominal pain. I had many wonderful nurses over the past week and would love to nominate a few more, but Eliza really stood out. She took the time to get to know me, which made me feel she really cares about her patients. She never “passed the buck”. I needed a PICC line dressing change, which I requested from 3 different nurses, but it wasn’t done until Eliza was on duty. I’m sure the other nurses either forgot or got busy, so the dressing change was missed, but Eliza made sure it was done. She paid attention to detail, which made her care even more individualized and seamless. She also anticipated my needs, and she was prompt in responding to requests throughout my stay. Also, there were issues in setting up care and IV infusions for me after discharge. She made sure that I was informed of what the team was doing to expedite approvals. Eliza is truly an example of an extraordinary, compassionate, and professional nurse who really cares about her patients and what they are going through. She also has a great sense of humor and lifted my spirits numerous times. Eliza really made a difference in my stay. It was a pleasure to get to know her and be her patient.
