Elexus does just that and makes sure her patients feel the genuine concern and care that she puts into her work.
Elexus came into the room and had a true patient-first mentality. She checked the med list, the IVs, the patient comfort, and probably a slew of other things I did not catch. More importantly, it was the little things she did that stood out. She closed the door and the curtain immediately to protect the patient's confidentiality. Asked them, "Are you okay? Can we do anything further?" Provided updates about patient status and discussed the process. She provided a comfortable chair and an extra pillow for me as I stayed overnight. Adjusted the lights to make the room darker for us. As bedside nurses flee the field, Elexus is a perfect example of what good students and incredible nurses are. Her approach to the medical side was clearly well learned. I was most impressed by her personal touch, genuine care, and skilled interactions both with the patient and her peers. In a stressful time, she was a knowledgeable and gentle hand.

I have seen Elexus in multiple clinical sites, and she consistently sets an example as an exceptional healthcare professional. As a fellow student, Elexus has shown great leadership and teamwork by encouraging others to participate in study groups, which she organizes. She has shown great personal character by even making herself available to offer transportation to peers and lending a hand to anyone who is in need or may be falling behind.

Elexus has continued to demonstrate her perseverance and determination to continue growing her nursing knowledge through actively participating in all patient care and searching for new learning opportunities. She is able to provide all her care while simultaneously making sure that she is not only treating the patient’s condition, but she is also treating the patient! Many times, nurses put building relationships on the back burner, but it is just as important to look at the patient as a whole, to remember they are human and have feelings. Elexus does just that and makes sure her patients feel the genuine concern and care that she puts into her work.
