I wanted to commend WellSpan and nurse Eileen for going the extra mile and getting the job done.
As you can see from the completed survey, I am very pleased with the treatment and services I received at Good Samaritan over multiple hospital stays. The levels of professionalism and expertise are both first-rate.

As my stay ended, the doctors prescribed a medication to be taken four times daily for 19 days. The prescription was for 40 pills, but I needed 76. The pharmacy could only fill the 40 pills, so we contacted the hospital about the error. The additional prescription was sent to another pharmacy.

A few days later, during a televisit with Dr. S, she wrote a new prescription and sent it to the original pharmacy. However, both pharmacies informed us they couldn't fill it until after the 40 pills ran out.

During my last infusion at Good Samaritan, I spoke with Nurse Eileen Sprecher about the issue. My husband spent over an hour on the phone with WellSpan, our insurance provider, and the pharmacy, and was assured we would receive an email from the pharmacy to notify us that the order could be filled. As of Sunday, no email had arrived.

I can only give the highest praise for nurse Eileen, who made a call and straightened out the mix-up. We were able to pick up the extra pills that Monday at the pharmacy, only one day before I would run out. I wanted to commend WellSpan and nurse Eileen for going the extra mile and getting the job done. Sometimes it is impossible for a patient to deal with the bureaucracy of healthcare, and without staff dedicated to patient welfare, the patient can feel lost in the system. Our kudos to nurse Eileen, Good Samaritan, and Cancer Center staff who do an amazing job.
