In April, I was admitted for cardiac catheterization. When preparing the pre-procedure checklist, Nurse Eddie picked up that since I had a stent, the point of entry for the catheterization may be changed. He explained the situation thoroughly so I could understand. After returning from the procedure, I soon was able to hear (as the curtain was closed) that he was the “go-to” person by other nurses in the area. From what I could hear outside the curtain, he was consulted a number of times about different patient situations. He even picked up on an error on the point of entry (left arm NOT the right arm) for the procedure. His timing for the gradual release of pressure at the point of entry was on the mark, despite being asked to consult about other patient situations. On discharge, I could see that Eddie was very much liked by co-workers in the area, by their smiles and a “hello” from a person in the hallway. That is when he told me how much he liked his position there and the co-workers assigned to the area. The nurses he works with gave me the impression that he is well respected. Thank you, Eddie!
