She had a calming nature that kept me as comfortable as possible, and I felt as though I had a friend in my corner, even though we had never met.
In August of 2025, I became a patient in the MGH emergency room. I came in with excruciating pain, and it was discovered that I was dealing with an ectopic pregnancy. This was a very difficult and emotional time for me, especially since I had just given birth to my son 10 months prior, and I learned that I needed surgery to remedy this situation. I was very upset, as you can imagine. The staff in the emergency room was great, but there was one nurse who really stood out to me and helped me tremendously while I was there. Her name is Edneisha Forestal.

Edneisha had a full complement of patients that evening. The ED was crazy busy as it likely always is, with many patients in the hallways. I know Edneisha had lots on her plate, but even so, she went the extra mile for me. I am a nurse myself, so I know that the medical end of my care was expertly handled by Edneisha, but her handling of my emotional state was where I felt she shone even more. She was very kind, and her bedside manner was exceptional. She took the time to pop in frequently to talk with me, and she was very understanding with a knack for making me feel relaxed while I was going through something that was extremely difficult.

She had a calming nature that kept me as comfortable as possible, and I felt as though I had a friend in my corner, even though we had never met. I believe that Edneisha's quiet but gentle personality and true compassion for her patients are impressive and an asset to MGH. I would guess that nurses in the emergency room are not recognized for their contributions as frequently as those who provide inpatient care, since their time spent with most patients is often chaotic and finite.
