Recently, I had the privilege of watching Eddy Johnson take care of a patient in the hospital. Eddy had asked if I would come and see her patient to provide extra encouragement for the patient. Eddy was a true cheerleader for her patient. After a few days, the patient was moved to another part of the hospital. Eddy made time to continue visiting the patient, who was moved to a completely different floor. Eddy took a gift to the patient to encourage her. The patient was then moved to another area of the hospital. Eddy continued to follow the patient. She checked on her regularly. She kept being an encouragement to the patient and made sure the patient had everything she needed. The last time I saw the patient in the hospital, I was able to go and see the patient with Nurse Eddy. When Eddy walked into the patient's room, the patient's face lit up, and she called out Eddy's name with pure joy. This is not the first time I have observed Nurse Eddy going out of her way to make sure her patients are well cared for, loved, and encouraged. Being a nurse at St. Bernards Medical Center is more than a job for Eddy. It is a passion and a calling. We are so fortunate to have Eddy Johnson taking care of our patients.
