I cannot thank him enough for his expertise, compassion, and time in creating a great healthcare experience.
Nurse Jackson administered my COVID, flu, and Tdap vaccines at the UGA health center. Though both visits I had with Nurse Jackson were quick and routine, he made them some of the best healthcare experiences I have had. Nurse Jackson is incredibly caring and personable; the way he interacted with me exemplified person oriented and compassionate care. Even for something as minor as routine vaccinations, he took the time to chat and get to know me. He was diligent in checking my chart and documenting my visit, taking care to ensure that nothing in my care had been overlooked. When he actually administered the immunization, he used a technique that I had never experienced before that made the shot truly painless. When I inquired about it, noting that this was the first time I had had a shot be pain-free, he told me that it was a technique he learned overseas in his time with DWB. Nurse Jackson should teach PD seminars on how to give shots like he does, because I wish every shot were that comfortable. As a patient, I really admire open-minded providers who can bring diverse and less-traditional treatments to increase the quality of my healthcare experience.

Routine vaccinations are a minor but integral part of healthcare and public health. Nurse Jackson's kind demeanor and effort to connect on a personal level put me at ease and made getting shots a positive experience. I cannot thank him enough for his expertise, compassion, and time in creating a great healthcare experience. I recognize the importance of positive patient experiences not only in an individual's healthcare but also in its role in public health. Members of our community should be happy to pursue their preventive healthcare, such as getting COVID, flu, and Tdap vaccines, which I am happy to receive with Nurse Jackson. I am moving soon to start grad school, and I probably won't see Nurse Jackson again, but as a future speech language pathologist, I want to take his spirit of connection, ingenuity, and kindness and put it into my work with my future clients. Just from our two quick visits for vaccines, I have learned the great impact of having a wonderful provider, and I hope to continue that in my work. Nurse Jackson is an amazing nurse.
