He treats her with such dignity, patience, and care that it honestly brings tears to our eyes every time.
Nomination #1:
I would like to nominate Doug for his compassion, professionalism, and skill. It was my first visit to the infusion center, and I was nervous about starting treatment. Doug started my ultrasound IV, all while being able to make me laugh and feel comfortable throughout the process. He took the time to explain how my infusion would go and made sure all of my questions were answered before we began. His kindness and proficiency in his field made me feel very secure in an intimidating situation. I’m grateful for the care I received. He truly represents what excellent nursing care should be!
Nomination #2:
There are good people in this world… and then there are healthcare heroes like Doug. Every other week, my mom, who is elderly, in a wheelchair, battling Crohn’s, pre-diabetes, and more than her share of health struggles, has to have her blood drawn and her infusion port set up. And somehow, Doug is the only person who can do it simply, gently, and without pain. He treats her with such dignity, patience, and care that it honestly brings tears to our eyes every time. Knowing that she’s in his hands gives my dad one less thing to worry about and brings our whole family a deep peace of mind that’s hard to describe. In a world that moves too fast, people like Doug remind us of what compassion really looks like. Thank you, Doug, for being more than just a nurse or technician. Thank you for treating my mom like family! This may be just another day at the office for Doug, but his kindness and compassion towards my mom mean the world to us. God bless you all.
Nomination #3:
I would like to nominate Doug for the DAISY Award because he made a profound impact on both my care and my mental well-being. From the moment he entered the room, he set the tone with humor, compassion, and genuine warmth. He carried that same steadiness through my entire appointment. Yesterday, I was struggling deeply with my mental health and feeling overwhelmed by everything going on in my life. Today’s infusion with Doug truly changed everything. His kindness, presence, and ability to make me feel seen reminded me that there are still good people in the world who care. Doug not only provided excellent clinical care — he provided hope at a time when I desperately needed it. He is the very definition of why the DAISY Award exists, and I am incredibly grateful for the impact he had on me today.
