Donna is an excellent nurse who always pays attention to the little details, like adding a warm blanket and putting Vaseline on dry lips. Her patients are always well cared for.

Today, Donna and I are working in Pediatric recovery. We had a 10-month-old patient who was in the operating room for an abscess. The patient was also being treated for scabies. At this time, the family was waiting in the room as they had not received treatment for themselves. There was a discussion on who was going to be in the isolation room and who would hold the baby when she woke up from anesthesia. Donna did not hesitate. She instantly put on the appropriate PPE.

She had the foresight to have a bottle of glucose water at the bedside with a warm blanket. She took excellent care of this baby, as if it were her own. She held and fed the baby, giving comfort. The baby was smiling and did not even cry once, thanks to Donna's attentive care. Once the baby woke up, we wanted to reunite the baby with its mother and were discussing appropriate transport. Again, Donna removed her PPE for transport and wrapped the baby in a warm blanket, then sat right down in a wheelchair, holding and talking to the baby all the way to its room. We arrived, and the family was so relieved to see the baby in no distress, smiling and happy.

I am so grateful to work with such a compassionate and skillful nurse.
