Donmeisha Murray, RN
Being readmitted nine days postpartum with a surgical site infection is stressful, to say the least. I was admitted with severe pain, which I had never experienced with my prior C-sections. Meisha stepped in to be my nurse the evening I was admitted, and the care she provided went far beyond what I ever expected.
During one of the most painful and vulnerable experiences of my life, she was my advocate when I felt unheard. She took my pain seriously, validated what I was experiencing, and worked tirelessly to ensure my concerns were addressed.
What made her exceptional wasn't just the medical care she provided; it was the compassion and kindness she showed every step of the way. She was incredibly patient, never making me feel like a burden, even when I needed reassurance or help. She listened with empathy, treated me with dignity and respect, and always made me feel like I mattered.
No matter what the task was, she always approached me with a warm smile, a positive attitude, and genuine compassion. Her calm presence brought me comfort during an incredibly difficult time, and her encouragement gave me strength when I needed it most. Because of her advocacy, I felt seen, heard, and cared for.
Being a nurse myself, it can be difficult to lean on others to care for you, but Meisha reminded me that nursing is so much more than providing medical treatment; it's about caring for the whole person. I will never forget the difference she made in my experience, and I am deeply grateful for the exceptional care she provided.
She truly embodies the compassion, excellence, and dedication that the DAISY Award recognizes, and I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this honor.
