Chris is the Mental Health RN for our clinic, and there isn't one specific incident to show that Chris is a fantastic nurse; there are many things, over time, that show it. He is everything you want a nurse to be: smart, kind, patient, compassionate, and he treats everyone with dignity & respect. He is always willing to help with any situation. He will draw blood for the lab tech if they have a difficult draw. He will cover nursing visits for PACT if they are short-staffed and need assistance. He frequently drives several hours to other Outpatient Clinics to cover their Mental Health nursing when someone is off and also covers other Mental Health clinics remotely, when needed. He never has a problem seeing a Veteran if they stop in the clinic and just need to talk. He calls and checks on Vets when he knows they are having a hard time. He helps set up their med boxes if he knows they struggle with keeping up with their medications. He often is the security guard for us at the front desk when we have a disruptive patient in the lobby or if someone is just making us feel uncomfortable, he is always willing to sit up front with us. He's changed the American Flag in front of our building several times when it gets tattered. He always goes above and beyond and is a fantastic asset to our clinic, to the VA, and to our Veterans.
