My mom lives alone, was sick, could not drive, and needed to be seen, but there were no appointments available that Friday. My mom spoke with Dr M's nurse, Diana, who advised my mom to try to get into Urgent Care instead. My mom tried to get an UC appointment, but she has severe macular degeneration and could not see well enough to call or schedule an appointment online, so she just gave up. However, Diana called my mom later to see if she was able to get an appointment and stated that she was worried about her. My mom explained that she could not see well enough, and so Diana decided to help my mom schedule an appointment. Not only did Diana schedule an appointment for my mom, but she also scheduled it for when she got off work. Then Diana and her husband drove to my mom's house, picked her up, drove her to UC, waited, drove my mom to get her Rx, and then drove my mom home. My mom lost her husband in May and is still trying to adjust to living independently. She does not like to ask for help but was extremely grateful for the help from Diana and her husband. I cannot express how grateful I am for Diana's extraordinary care of my mom. I live 5 hours away and truly appreciate all Diana did for my mom when she needed help. I would like to nominate Diana for the DAISY Award. Diana took care of a patient in a way most people wouldn't, and deserves this Award more than any nurse I know.
