Diana's willingness to stay, her teamwork, and her consistently positive attitude during a hectic shift were invaluable.
As a Mayo Clinic doctor and former Chief of Staff, Diana was outstanding in every respect. The VA is fortunate to have her for all the right reasons. She embodies unparalleled dignity. The DAISY Award, which honors extraordinary nurses, seems tailor-made for someone like Diana, who consistently goes above and beyond the call of duty.
I would like to recognize Diana Tierno, RN (6E), who went above and beyond her role. After her shift had ended on 6B, she assisted me in verifying the direct admission of a veteran who was on a heparin drip. The veteran arrived with a different heparin protocol than the one we use at the VA, which required careful attention and time to reconcile. Additionally, she helped the unit by facilitating the transfer of a veteran to accommodate the unit's needs. Diana's willingness to stay, her teamwork, and her consistently positive attitude during a hectic shift were invaluable. We are grateful to have her providing the best care for our veterans.
