Devin makes sure that these two little girls are getting the best of what life offers while they seek gene therapy and any and all resources.
Devin came to Kaiser Permanente from working Intensive Care Unit at a very large Hospital and took on a very large department. She brought her knowledge and compassion and created an environment where trust, compassion, and mutual respect were given. She is a true role model of extraordinary nursing, as well as a manager all can look up to and forward to seeing on a daily basis. There were days when the workload would be a little overwhelming and as an employee felt like things could not get worse, but Devin would step in and either lighten the load or find a way to bring positivity back into the day, and on many occasions, she would be the first in the department and the last leaving at the end of the day. I have had to go to her with members' concerns and she would promptly pick up the phone or leave her desk to greet these Kaiser Permanente members personally and go above and beyond to make sure their needs always came first. I knew at any time I could go to her with difficult situations, and she would always calm and explain to these members what we could do and normally went above and beyond to speak to their provider to either get the problem fixed or make sure they always left with an understanding of what they needed.
Devin also has given back to the community as well as her friends and family. She has had the difficult task to speak with close friends who have two little girls with a rare and fatal disease called GM1 Ganglicosidosis. Making time for these parents to ask any and all questions they need to. She has worked on fundraisers that will contribute to the GM1 Foundation. She makes sure that these two little girls are getting the best of what life offers while they seek gene therapy and any and all resources. From fun days in the park to being there for hugs when days are difficult. Devin always finds time to be the medical resource and any and all that she needs to be for these parents in the difficult days ahead. Always puts on that smile and reassures when she can. This to me is compassion, kindness, behaviors perceived as extraordinary!
She not only implemented the flu clinics, but during pandemic, she implemented covid testing and often finding any and all resources including herself to staff these areas. When a nurse stat was called at Rock Creek MOB you found Devin responding with the rest of the front-facing staff to take care of the patients’ needs. Devin always maintained professionalism, integrity, and compassion here at Rock Creek prior to leaving for her new role as a MOD/MOA at Englewood. Her love for nursing and patient care goes above and beyond and the biggest reason for going into the profession was after losing her father to illness. She strives to be the best that she can be and was a wonderful Labor Partner who is missed terribly but will always be my number one role model.
