Desi Bassett, RN

Ms. Desi Bassett has been my father's nurse on the day shift for my Dad's hospital stay for a pacemaker. His foot has been hurting him for a while, but all of a sudden, overnight, his foot was hurting him so badly, and he was in excruciating pain.

Everyone would look at it and make a note of it, but Desi took note of it and repeatedly checked it and the progress of its decline. She went above and beyond in the care of my father and her duties. She notified the proper doctors and stayed with it incessantly until the podiatrist came to examine it.

The podiatrist then came to the conclusion that my Father had cellulitis in his ankle and took him immediately to cut out the bad and dead skin from the bottom of his heel as well as drain the bad blood, pus, and infection. The podiatrist said that there is a chance that the bones in his foot may be septic and may need to be amputated.

I thank Desi from the bottom of my heart and all that I am that she had the skill and experience to see and recognize the problem and not give up until the proper people got the issue resolved.
