It's not often that upper management receives recognition for a job well done. I have been employed at FCCW since the end of October and have never seen such an involved member of management in all my 16 years of nursing. I wanted to take this time to recognize our amazing Director of Nursing Derinda Lokey. Since she has become the DON of FCCW, this place has been changed for the better in so many ways. From becoming more organized as a whole, improved patient outcomes with providers, improved relationships between staff and patients, improved safety amongst staff, improved morale amongst our team, being an endless resource and wealth of knowledge for staff, initiating a new way of scheduling to meet facility needs and decrease confusion, holding staff accountable to higher expectations in care and interactions with our inmate population, she has been a dream come true. Everyone loves her. Staff have stated they only stay because of Lokey. She has created such a climate of trust with staff and patients, which is essential in the area where we work. I know she works tirelessly to ensure we are staffed, assignments are fair, attends meetings, rearranges areas on the unit for efficiency, and is there for us 24/7. She is known for coming in early, staying late, being available by phone or teams all hours of the night, and still comes in with a positive attitude and smile on her face. Her dedication to her role as DON is remarkable, and all while having a family at home to care for as well. We are all just so thankful for her efforts, and she deserves to be recognized. Thank you.
